The Italian Look – Milan S/S13
We go from London to Milan and take a look at what the Italians had to offer for Spring/Summer 2013. We’ve picked some of our favorite runway looks from a few heavy hitters.
Jil Sanders finally got their namesake designer back to the company. Ms. Sanders showed her first season at her eponymous label, thankfully not much had changed in her loved aesthetic of minimal luxury. Oversized silhouettes and a short list of colors provided a modern look that was in line with her earlier work but still seemed fresh.
It feels like everyone in the industry always waits to see what Prada is going to show, and every season its always better than anyone could expect. Miuccia is a genius, she pulls out ideas that not only have a timeless quality about them but they also have a quirkiness that still seems mature. This season she found inspiration in the east, creating separates and accessories influenced by Japan.
To end our Milan coverage on a happy note, lets look at Versus, a collaborative line from Donatella Versace and Christopher Kane. This collection like their previous seasons is vibrant, its full of prints and color. Its definitely designed with a young customer in mind and it really gives off a fun vibe.
